What it is
Giropay was a German online-banking redirect. Shareholders wound it down in 2024; payments stopped 31 December 2024. A 2026 cashier button labelled Giropay does not authorise new payments.
Where it actually works
This was a German product, unlike Interac. The political successor is Wero; casino integrations are still rare. Practical substitutes: bank transfer, Klarna Pay Now, PayPal. OASIS still applies on GGL brands.
Fees and limits
Historical payer fees are irrelevant. Use the live method’s limits. Giropay was deposit-only anyway.
Speed
Formerly minutes after a bank TAN. Now the control should fail or be absent. Time SEPA Instant instead.
Verification (KYC)
Bank login was the check; casino KYC still applied. Same for any successor rail.
